I Use the Well of Bones as a Doorway

Also known as My Brother Was the Only One Who Was Different I'm a hybrid of the White Fox and White Dog clans. I barely have any canine traits, which proves my mother's genes aren't strong enough. My uncle has two wives. One had a son named Big Dog, and the other had a son named Second Dog. But from the day I was born until now, I've only called my cousin "big brother" once: the first time we met. Back then, I still had the most beautiful fantasies about the creature known as an older brother. Reality slapped me hard, so I slapped my cousin hard in return. That began a century-long saga of brawling between us. Naturally, we both ended up battered. My fox fur was torn, with green poison oozing from it. My cousin's face was cut up, one paw was lame, and my teeth marks were all over him. Another fifty years passed, and Second Dog was born. He was much cuter than Big Dog, and always making a fuss. He reminded me of the little white dog I had in my previous life, except that when I came home from school, the dog had been given away. I'm grateful Second Dog was born. He reminded me that I used to be human. No wonder this dump felt so small! No wonder the only thing to do was fight with Big Dog. I sprang straight into the Bone Well, eager to see a bigger world. But outside, I discovered that the guys who acted like older brothers were nothing like Big Dog. Tong Ye: "You should learn from them." Big Dog: "Hah!" Theme: The sky is high enough for birds to fly freely, and the sea is wide enough for fish to leap. Be the most unique light of all.
