Behind Him [Secret Crush]

[The heroine has a secret crush on the hero in the first half; in the second half, he pursues her.] [CEO x simultaneous interpreter] -1- During two years of high school, Shen Yinxia buried herself in studying. Her only amusement was writing down in her diary the names of the girls who confessed to Zhou Shangyu. Cold, bad at school, and someone you didn’t want to mess with: those were Zhou Shangyu’s labels. Even so, countless girls threw themselves at him. On the night of the college entrance exams, the class went out to eat. Shen Yinxia was helping a friend deliver a love letter to Zhou Shangyu when she heard him tease, “I thought you liked me too.” Shen Yinxia’s heart raced. As timid as she was, she didn’t even dare look at his reaction. She turned and fled in a panic. The secret crush no one had ever known about was buried for good. -2- On the day she won a second-tier lottery prize, someone at the lottery shop asked Shen Yinxia how she felt. Her expression was calm and her voice steady. “These numbers are the birthdays of me and someone else. Thank you to him for returning the favor.” A student from her old school filmed the video and spread it everywhere. Everyone began guessing where the numbers had come from. -3- When they met again, Shen Yinxia had become one of the few Spanish simultaneous interpreters at the top of her field. The day they reunited, Zhou Shangyu saw her among the interpreters accompanying him. His eyes lit up. “Shen Yinxia, I don’t remember you ever giving me a gift. How can this be a return present?” Shen Yinxia smiled back at him. “What a coincidence. Are those numbers your birthday too?” She held out her hand politely and gracefully, no longer the insecure, timid girl she had been years ago. “I look forward to working with you, Mr. Zhou.” -4- After several unsuccessful attempts to make a move, Zhou Shangyu cornered Shen Yinxia in the cramped interpreter booth and demanded, “I gave you so many hints during the meeting just now. Why do you never look me in the eye?” With nowhere to retreat, Shen Yinxia answered courteously, “Interpreters mainly rely on their hearing. You’ll distract me.” Zhou Shangyu forced her to lift her head and challenged her in a voice that betrayed his disadvantage. “Then why did you used to sneak looks at me in class?” Theme: Be brave enough to pursue the one you love.
