[Transported to another world + obsessive possession and forced love + she runs, he pursues]
After a string of unsuccessful blind dates in the modern world, Xin Zhi opened her eyes to find herself in a remote mountain region in ancient times.
By a twist of fate, a minor official and his wife mistook her for their daughter, who had eloped to escape an arranged marriage. To defy her parents’ wishes and avoid being forcibly matched by the authorities, Xin Zhi decided to choose a suitable husband for herself.
She set her sights on Yan Yanluo, a wealthy merchant from the capital. He was gentle and refined, and treated her with sincerity. They fell for each other.
She thought she had finally chosen the right man by trusting her own judgment.
Until the cold command token of the Embroidered Uniform Guard’s commander appeared before her.
“You think you’re choosing a good match?” Yan Yanluo tore up the marriage contract and smiled, his words poisonous. “I’m the one hunting you.”
He wasn’t a merchant. She was his prey. Their mutual affection was nothing but a trap he had carefully laid.
Xin Zhi regretted everything and turned to run.
But she didn’t know that once she’d caught the attention of a devil like him, there would be no getting away.
When the first snow fell on the capital, she left behind a letter written in blood: I’d rather die than regret it.
[Independent, clear-headed, resilient heroine ☆ A calculating, deeply controlling, smiling devil of a commander]
[She picked the wrong man, walked into the wrong trap, can’t escape, and won’t regret it] [Old-school romance]

[Preview excerpt: A high-stakes scene from the middle and later chapters]
In the unlit darkness, dusk pressed down until it was hard to breathe. The woman, dressed in finery and adorned with ruby hairpins and jade ornaments, suddenly drew her blade. Like a cold edge bursting free from a heap of soft gold, she pressed it against his throat.
A hidden fury stirred in Yan Yanluo’s eyes. His fingers twitched, instinct urging him to subdue her. But his gaze swept over the jewels trembling on the verge of slipping from her hair and the slender wrist gripping the hilt, struggling to stay steady. Even amid his rage, burning at its peak, a scorching thread of admiration seeped in.
He had met countless women, but never one who could combine such delicate elegance with a willingness to risk her life in a way so captivating.
He looked down at the blade’s tip, then up at her. “You’re afraid of me.”
It wasn’t a question.
Xin Zhi’s lips moved. “...I’m not afraid of you.”
“Oh? Is that so?” Yan Yanluo reached out and flicked the blade. “Then why are you trembling?”
The woman said nothing, her eyes clear and calm. Her fingertips shook, but her back was straight with stubborn resolve.
Yan Yanluo suddenly smiled. “You’re afraid of me, but you still came to see me. I’ll reluctantly forgive you for barging into my chambers.”
(This is only a short scene inspired by events in the middle and later chapters. The actual story has tighter logic, richer content, more tension between the leads, and plenty of romance, all while staying true to the characters. If you like it, remember to follow the story. You’ll get a notification as soon as it launches.)
Note:
The setting is fictional, but the story is grounded in reality and full of the oppression of feudal society.
This story is a melodramatic mix of everything. The male lead is a scoundrel shaped by a deeply feudal era. He’s awful at first, utterly inhuman, calculating, possessive, highly intelligent, and skilled at scheming. After meeting the heroine, he never touches anyone else. This is required by the plot, so please don’t ask for content warnings.
The heroine has sound values. She’ll escape many times and still wants to return to the modern world. She’ll suffer physical abuse and fake her death. The male lead is adept at manipulating people, relentlessly corners the heroine, and even emotionally abuses her. There’s no doubt he’ll face a long road to redemption.
