Shang Xiaoyu is the land god of Peach Branch Mountain, born at the wrong time. Her status is lowly, and because people have a stereotype that land gods are all white-bearded old men, she gets pitifully few offerings of incense.

Everyone who has ever visited her temple bursts out laughing: "Other people's land gods are respected elders. Yours hasn't even finished growing her hair, and she's already at work?"

Everyone thinks she's an illegitimate, unofficial god. Shang Xiaoyu has been unable to get enough to eat since she was little, and hunger leaves her eyes hazy.

A financial tycoon famous beyond the industry says he'll build her a grand temple, cast a golden statue of her, and honor her as a distinguished guest.

An internationally acclaimed movie star declares that the Peach Branch Mountain land god is her one and only faith, and gives her free publicity every day.

A hugely popular figure in law enforcement publicly presents Shang Xiaoyu with a banner praising her for helping solve several cases.

Shang Xiaoyu's temple grows larger and larger, and the incense offerings grow more and more abundant.
