A genius sword cultivator turned murder suspect, the pursuer, Xie Genglan x a lawyer who smiles for business in public and just wants to lie flat in private, though he can't, the pursued, Chen Yu

Chen Yu is a lawyer for an immortal sect. His motto: Convince people to study law, and they'll study it again in their next life.

Today he's handling a divorce between cultivation partners, listening to one party weep over having given their whole heart to a dog.

Tomorrow he's in court for a contract dispute, watching the defendant swear to the heavens that if he's lying, may he be struck by lightning.

Chen Yu: Hah, to hell with civil law.

After being forced to take on the defense of an escaped suspect in a serial murder case, Chen Yu: I'm a civil lawyer!

But the escaped suspect, Xie Genglan, is tall and handsome, upright in character, and has no prior record of breaking the law.

He lowered his head with a wounded look. "It's all right. I bear a grave crime, and shouldn't drag you down with me."

Chen Yu's conscience pricked. "How about we investigate the truth a little more?"
