The most terrifying part was that Yu Zhan had become the vicious, good-for-nothing female supporting character who loved the male lead but couldn't have him! The original character had fallen in love with Mo Feng at first sight after he saved her with his sword that year.

They were worlds apart, yet she clung to him relentlessly and stopped at nothing to get what she wanted. Everyone in the sect hated and despised her, and she met a miserable end, all of it her own doing.

By contrast, the protagonist, Mo Feng, was the eldest legitimate son of a thousand-year-old cultivation family. Gifted beyond compare, he tested his sword alone at sixteen and left all others in the dust, becoming the personal disciple of Feng Yu, the greatest swordsman in a thousand years. He formed his golden core before the age of one hundred, swept away a thousand troops with one strike, and broke ten thousand formations alone. He was beyond the reach of ordinary people.

He roamed everywhere, feared by all. Though cold as ice, he was stunningly beautiful, and countless people pined for him. Yet he was arrogant and brooding, cruel and violent, and quick to take revenge. After several hundred years, his crimes became unforgivable. He even destroyed the heavens and earth, causing the novel's world to collapse.

Save the world...right? Yu Zhan checked once more that she'd heard correctly. The System wanted her to oppose this fiend and save the world, all while playing the role of a good-for-nothing hopelessly in love with him.

System: Do your best, Host! I believe you can do it! Go!

Yu Zhan: What? What exactly do you believe in?

As it turned out, the System had believed in the right person. It watched as the quick-witted, composed young woman made rapid progress, mastering swordsmanship and memorizing formation techniques backward and forward...though her cultivation remained completely unchanged.

Yu Zhan thoughtfully rubbed her chin and asked the System, "What do I do if I can't beat Mo Feng without any cultivation?"

The System, which had been listening to her plot day after day about how to secretly kill Mo Feng: ...I told you to save the world. Who told you to kill Mo Feng?

Yu Zhan looked puzzled. "Shouldn't I strike first, before he cuts me into pieces?"

Back then, the demon could never have imagined that one day he would be like a stray dog, sinking into despair alone, going mad alone, and wanting only to share the abyss with someone. But

The young woman repaid him by piercing his heart with ten thousand swords.

Content warnings: Includes some gender-bending from gay to straight. The character who becomes straight was fundamentally bisexual. A character disliked by everyone becomes universally adored. Includes lesbian relationships, forced sex, a small amount of female-on-female competition, the original character's perspective, physical and emotional abuse, and very slow updates by the author.

Clarification: Yu Bao is sweet on the outside, dark on the inside, then sweet again (yes, really). Strong female lead with a golden finger, BG romance, multiple love interests competing (one-on-one ending), no playing favorites, somewhat of an ensemble cast, lots of one-sided crushes, male-on-male competition, plenty of romantic rivalries later on, exceptionally high melodrama, loads of setup and foreshadowing, and both male-gaze and female-gaze content.
