A story about unrequited love finally fulfilled, after life and death, upheaval across two lifetimes, and a forced separation before the lovers reunite. A mid-length novel, coming soon.
Muga, a doll who has been revived twice × Wurier, a death god who calls himself a necromancer
Muga × Wurier
A ghost of the River Styx × an incarnation of the Mother Goddess of the River Styx. Both are nonhuman, or perhaps only appear to be.
Come see a mechanical deus ex machina in an ancient cyberpunk fantasy world.
And although the blurb may look like a tragic ending, this is actually just a sweet little romance dressed up in an original fantasy setting.

On the first day that Muga, born as a combat doll, met the man who called himself the greatest necromancer in Aenovia, in the Valley of the River Styx, the necromancer asked the doll, "Do you have a soul?"
Muga had no idea why she was asking. "Maybe I do," she said.
But she was still wondering: the Valley of the River Styx was where all things perished, so no living beings should exist here.
Muga thought Wurier had wandered into this place by mistake and would soon leave.
But the next day, and the day after that, the necromancer stayed by her side.
She offered to remake a body for Muga and take her out of the valley, ending the miserable life she had spent as a combat doll.
Sitting on the cliff where all spirits wept, Muga cradled her broken leg. "Wurier, would I still be me after that?"
"Do you have a soul?" Wurier asked, sitting beside her on the cliff, imitating her pose. "I am the greatest necromancer. As long as you have a soul, I can give you a second life."
"Only a god can control life, but Wurier..." Muga interrupted her. "You are not a god."
"...Why do you say that?"
"My life is short. I am a warrior, a combat doll created to cleanse the River Styx."
"Wurier, my lifespan is short, and the only purpose of the life I was given is to fight for Aenovia. My freedom is confined to this tiny valley. If you really are a god..."
She paused and lowered her voice, as if asking Wurier, or perhaps herself, "Why are you afraid to show your true form?"
"You are afraid to free me from my filthy memories. You are afraid my consciousness is nothing but mechanical data. You don't dare find out."
"You are afraid that after I die, the divine consciousness inhabiting this body will have nowhere to go and become a spirit of the Valley of the River Styx."
Muga's voice was calm.
The mechanical heart in her body was trembling.
"Wurier, you are afraid I have no soul."

Although this is set in the same world, you can read it without reading the previous story.
