The Little Lord of the Ice River

In the 128th year of the Ice Age, Lanshan Town welcomed a young new lord.

Lin Gu accepted the signet ring symbolizing her lordship from her aunt. She had only just come of age, yet now possessed a territory anyone would envy.

Lin Gu had two secrets. She had not awakened any special abilities. In an Ice Age where everyone had evolved, she was like a dim-witted person with limited intelligence from the old calendar era, unable to live on her own.

To hide her first secret, Lin Gu pretended to have awakened an ability. She used her second secret to do it.

When she was fifteen, Lin Gu received a magical Rubik's Cube. Each twist produced a mystery box. Sometimes it held a bag of expired wheat, a packet of oddly flavored candy, or a pair of shoes that didn't fit.

Other times, it held a diary that wrote by itself, a clever and capable mechanical dog, a magic cloak that could turn its wearer invisible, or a potted sunflower that could sing.

In short, all sorts of strange things could come out of Lin Gu's mystery boxes. On the third day after she took up her post as lord of Lanshan Town, the cube turned again. This time, the box produced a girl with a distinctly feline look. And she was alive!

Lin Gu tentatively touched the back of the girl's round head and asked, "Where did you come from? What's your name?"

Jiang Wu, who had dropped from the sky, sat on the bed with her legs tucked to the side. She looked up with wide, glossy black eyes. Her expression was innocent, yet she exuded an unintentional allure, like a little catgirl who had just arrived somewhere unfamiliar. The catgirl braced both hands against Lin Gu's stomach, pressed her lips together in a pitiful pout, and said nothing. Instead, she rubbed her cheek affectionately against Lin Gu's palm, as if currying favor with her new owner.

Lin Gu's palm trembled. She quickly helped the girl sit up straight and warned her, "Little kitty, you can't do that!"

Jiang Wu tilted her head. Her face was as pink and tender as a freshly peeled peach, and her catlike eyes blinked with a hint of confusion. She leaned forward and planted a smacking kiss on Lin Gu's face, delivering a critical hit. Startled, Lin Gu pulled the girl into her arms and declared, "You can only do that to me!"

[Important background information: The technology of the old calendar era in this story is borrowed from a period similar to, but not entirely the same as, the First Industrial Revolution. This is a parallel world where steam exists, but electricity has not yet been invented. It is not a traditional post-21st-century wasteland setting.

The arrival of the glacial apocalypse completely changed the course of human evolution. Humanity shifted from relying on external technology to evolving through changes in its own genetic code. In short, anything that seems unreasonable in the story is fictional. Please don't overanalyze it. This is not a popular science article.

The golden finger is not native to this world and can connect to various planes. The mystery boxes produced by the cube contain randomly selected items from different planes.

Basically, this is a farming story. The protagonist uses her golden finger to make her territory prosperous, while also taking good care of her little kitty!
