An Unconventional Sports Anime Protagonist

[This is an early work and has many shortcomings. I'll be revising it soon.] After an accident in middle school, Gong Shuo came to hate volleyball. What made him hate it even more was a dream that felt both absurd and real. He learned that he was the protagonist of a passionate volleyball manga. But if he followed his character setting and worked hard at volleyball, he'd end up disabled, so Gong Shuo decisively gave it up. After graduating from middle school, Gong Shuo returned to Hyogo Prefecture. He never expected his two cousins to be complete volleyball fanatics, or his school to be a famous volleyball powerhouse in the Kansai region. Gong Shuo hates volleyball most of all, and volleyball players second most. Then he enrolls at Inarizaki, where people recognize him, and the troublesome twins start pestering him. "A-Shuo! Let's play volleyball together!" Faced with Atsumu's enthusiasm, Gong Shuo says disdainfully, "No." He hates volleyball more than anything. In the end, Gong Shuo still joins the volleyball team, though the road there is a little bumpy. His talent is accidentally exposed, and the troublesome twins latch onto him. One day, Gong Shuo finally snaps and beats them up on the court. When someone asks him, "Do you really not want to give it another try?" Gong Shuo realizes that no matter what, he still loves volleyball. Later, every school that plays against Inarizaki sees their violent opposite hitter trying hard to break character every single day. After Atsumu makes a perfect set, he says, "It was so-so. Nothing special." But his eyes shine brightly. After Osamu's spikes are blocked over and over, he says, "As expected, Osamu's just too useless to score." Yet he watches Osamu with concern, then shuts down the opposing team's ace. He's the protagonist, yet he breaks character every day. Gong Shuo just wants to play volleyball. "Shoyo, if your matches ever stop being exciting, I'll pull my funding." From that day on, Oikawa Asahi and Hinata Shoyo become sworn enemies. Then an accident sends him back to his youth. He decides to transfer schools early so he can get a look at, and catch the eye of, Kozume Kenma. Core message: Love never fades
