[I plan to rewrite the entire book.]
The Divine Lord, seated high in the great hall, asked her, "Siming, how did you end up in this state?"
She lay on the ground, in so much pain she couldn't speak.
After a long while, the Divine Lord sighed. "Do you regret it?"
She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. "No."
She held an official place among the immortals and controlled the fates of all beings in the three realms. She had seen every kind of life and death, and long ago cultivated a mind that could rise and fade with a single thought, untouched by love. Yet she fell in love with a mortal.
One day, Siming came to pay the Divine Lord another visit. The Divine Lord asked her again, "All things arise and pass away through causes and conditions, and in the end, everything is empty. Do you regret it?"
She raised her head, light and shadow flickering in her eyes, and still replied, "No."
If all things are empty, and only broken dreams and a remnant life remain, then even this long, desolate path of immortality cannot withstand the sight of him turning back to look at her.
