My boss ordered me to travel to a remote mountain village and film the daily lives of its long-lived elders.
I set off with a guide recommended by a friend.
On the very first day, we encountered a foggy forest full of danger. We managed to escape, but I was still shaken.
As the days went on, things only grew stranger.
Late at night, when all was quiet, the village elders whispered about unspeakable secrets hidden in the mountains.
Through my camera, I saw the deep fear lurking behind their smiles.
One night, I accidentally caught a glimpse of eerie lights flickering among the trees, accompanied by a low murmur that sounded almost human, but not quite. It sent chills down my spine.
The guide grew increasingly strange, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't bring himself to.
I gradually realized this trip was no ordinary assignment. The secret of the elders' longevity might be closely tied to some terrifying force lurking deep in the mountains.
With every step forward, it felt as though I were descending into an unknown abyss of horror. The truth and the danger followed me like a shadow...
P.S. A few warnings: This is a very short story, and it won't hold up to scrutiny. The heroine's characterization and behavior may be off-putting. I wrote this for fun, to practice plotting and various hooks.
It's a quick sketch. I did my best to make the prose feel modern, but I can't promise it's any good.
