This novel mainly tells the story of the first life, in which the five Dao Ancestors of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth descended into the mortal world and became gods. (As the saying goes, gods come from among humans.)

These are the five protagonists of the first life. They build a kingdom together, and not one of them can be missing. They bear the weight of destiny, and only by gathering together can they change a land on the brink of ruin.

Wood (the female lead) gathers qi. The other four will gradually converge around her, following in her footsteps and embarking on the same path.

Metal (the male lead) gathers killing intent. His presence brings martial fortune, lets him command the lords, and makes military might flourish.

Water (the second female lead) gathers wealth. With her joining them, fortune will slowly flow their way, making it easy to provision their troops.

Earth (the third female lead) governs the nation's fortune. Wherever she stands, the nation's fortunes follow. Earth is the foundation, and the land is the mother.

Fire (the second male lead) governs purple qi, the fortune of emperors. He is the Confucian emperor of the realm.

The Five Elements share the same root.

The second life is about clearing away the obsessions of the eight directions and unraveling the secrets of Heaven concerning the Twelve True Gods, secrets that must not be revealed.

It is a framework connecting the Five Elemental Ancestral Gods, the Twelve True Gods, the obsessions of the eight directions, the Four Houtu, and the Heavenly Dao.
