The ability-user detective Arisugawa Arisu, aka Ayatsuji Yukito's considerate roommate, Edogawa Ranpo's human GPS, and Fyodor's online friend of many years, is a man with two Alices in his name. Today, too, he is clarifying that he's merely an ordinary mystery-detective collector, and absolutely not a famous detective himself.
"If I'm a famous detective, then Ayatsuji and Mr. Ranpo must be gods."
-
Arisugawa comes to Yokohama for a case and is invited to join the Armed Detective Agency by the kappa of the Tsurumi River.
"Dazai may not always follow the rules, but he's a fine detective."
-
By chance, he teams up with an executive of the Port Mafia to solve a case.
"Mr. Nakahara can fight and take a hit. He's a detective of great promise."
-
After many years apart, he runs into an information broker from the Decay of the Angel.
"...I still want to say that if Fedya had chosen the right path, he'd surely have become a famous detective every bit as great as Ayatsuji and Mr. Ranpo."
When he was young, Arisugawa was arrogant enough to call himself Japan's greatest detective. Then the internet and society beat him into shape, and the "Murder Detective" fortunately took him in and taught him. As an adult, he was humbled by "Ultra-Deduction," realizing that a firefly's light could never rival the moon. Later, he and his online friend met in person again, both bristling with resentment, yet Arisugawa still tried to persuade "Crime and Punishment" to return to the right path.
"True justice means everyone doing their part. Those with the talent to solve cases should become famous detectives."
[Bonus Scene]
Arisugawa takes up a side job, serializing detective fiction on his blog. Ranpo and Ayatsuji eagerly leave comments, but the discussion gradually devolves into trading insults and trash talk, and Arisugawa folds both their comments. Fyodor, laughing to the end behind eight secret identities, takes over the comment section, only to be reported by Dazai, who suddenly appears on the scene, for running a deceptive promotional account. The account gets banned.
Theme: Justice will come in the end.
