Synopsis
Blurb:
Xu Yan worked diligently as a 996 wage slave in her previous life, hoping to save enough to retire early. She never imagined she was so unlucky. The moment she opened her eyes, she had transmigrated to a poor village in ancient times, where her family had nothing.
Her mother was frail, the two little ones were skin and bones, and her father was away gambling. The family was drowning in debt, and creditors had already come knocking several times.
Xu Yan had no choice but to grit her teeth and promise the creditors she would pay off the debt within half a month. She was close to tears. In her old life, she worked 996; now she was a beast of burden, laboring for nothing.
Luckily, she had a second chance and remembered the skills she'd learned in her previous life. Her family members all had their flaws, but they could be helped. Before long, Xu Yan had paid off the debt and met an adorable young man.
Xu Yan made little desserts and flirted with the young man. Life couldn't have been sweeter.
In the end, everyone, from ordinary folk to young masters and ladies, fell in love with her cooking.
"I heard there's a new treat called cake?"
"That came out ages ago! The latest one is cream puffs!"
As the varieties grew, Xu Yan made her recipes public.
From then on, Lingnan, once known as a place of exile, became a city of desserts, drawing visitors from far and wide.
Ever since Xie Yunyan was born, his goal had been to become a top scholar who achieved the rare honor of placing first in all five imperial examinations. His books were filled with densely packed notes.
But after meeting Xu Yan, he kept losing focus while studying. Before he knew it, the words on the page had turned into A Yan.
Excerpt:
Xie Yunyan blushed and stammered as he called to Xu Yan, "Older sister."
Xu Yan laughed, ruffled his hair, and softly called him, "A Yu."
Next book: Bringing My Senior Sister Home After Saving Her
After Jiang Yuan died of illness, the System brought her to the cultivation world, where she became the vicious supporting female character in a book.
The supporting character held a special place in the Taiyi Sect. Her parents had both died in the war between the righteous and demonic factions, leaving Jiang Yuan an orphan at a young age.
Her uncle was the sect leader of Taiyi, and her master was its Sword Venerable. She had a gentle, jade-like senior brother with an ice spirit root, and a heaven-blessed junior brother with a thunder spirit root and a natural sword physique.
Jiang Yuan was merely the least remarkable of them, with dual spirit roots. The Sword Venerable had only taken her as a disciple out of pity for her parents, who had sacrificed their lives for the righteous path.
Everyone in the Zhou Kingdom was a genius, and the supporting character grew more and more twisted under their pressure. She wanted to make every genius fall from their pedestal.
But before the story even began, the original character accidentally went into cultivation deviation while practicing in her room and died on the spot.
When Jiang Yuan transmigrated, she had to take the original character's place and continue following the plot assigned by the System.
The System knew Jiang Yuan had died of an illness, but no one had mentioned that the Host had a mental illness.
And so, the following plot unfolded:
The System assigned the Host a task: mock the male lead, an outer-sect disciple, during the sect tournament, then lose to him and admit defeat.
Jiang Yuan was so agitated that she couldn't control herself and fought harder and harder. Even after her arm was broken and blood was flying everywhere, she still didn't cry out in surrender. She just stood there, stupidly taking the beating.
In the secret realm, inner-sect disciples whom the original character had once bullied banded together to attack her. According to the plot, the original character used a magical artifact left by her parents to kill them all. After leaving the secret realm, the sect called her cruel, whipped her fifty times, and confined her to her quarters for half a year.
But with Jiang Yuan in her place, she was beaten up by the group, and the inner-sect disciples all left without her even fighting back.
"Hey, aren't you going to fight back?" Her junior brother had watched for a long time. After the others left, he finally couldn't resist jumping down from a tree.
Jiang Yuan blinked and asked innocently, "Am I supposed to fight back?"
