The two first met in a torrential downpour.

The whole city was shrouded in rain. Ning Shi stood with an umbrella on the steps, looking down at Lin Sixiao.

A bloodstain stood out against his pale face. Sitting in an abandoned park with no shelter, drenched from head to toe and utterly disheveled, he looked at her with wariness and suspicion.

She handed him a bandage.

Lin Sixiao's lips are bitten until they ache. A vivid red flush spreads from his ears down his neck. He curls his lips into a smile, bends his head toward her ear, and says, "Woof."
