A Beautiful Woman's Passion

Qin Shuhuai was handsome, smart, and came from a good family. Plenty of girls at school admired him.

Meng Shuangyue sat right in front of him, giving her the perfect chance to get close. Whenever she ran into a problem she couldn't solve, she would turn around and ask Qin Shuhuai for help. When his throat felt sore, she made a point of buying him throat lozenges. On Christmas Eve, she even gave him a beautifully wrapped apple.

In their senior year, a transfer student named Yue Qingzhou joined the class. He was fair and neat-looking, quiet, and unfamiliar with his new surroundings. As class monitor, Meng Shuangyue took special care of him and showed him concern in every way.

One day, Qin Shuhuai and Yue Qingzhou cornered her.

Qin Shuhuai raised an eyebrow. "Meng Shuangyue, is it fun to keep one foot in each boat?"

Meng Shuangyue looked at Qin Shuhuai, then at Yue Qingzhou. "I'm innocent! I never dated either of you, did I?"

After that, neither Qin Shuhuai nor Yue Qingzhou spoke to her again.

Years later, Meng Shuangyue was dismayed to discover that Qin Shuhuai had become her direct supervisor, while Yue Qingzhou had become a major client she was responsible for.

This time, Meng Shuangyue decided to keep things strictly professional.

One day, before Qin Shuhuai was due to chair a meeting, his throat felt sore.

Without thinking, Meng Shuangyue rummaged in her bag, pulled out a throat lozenge, and offered it to him. "This is one I had left over. If you don't mind, it should help."

Qin Shuhuai stared at her. Old memories flooded back. "Meng Shuangyue, were the throat lozenges you gave me ten years ago leftovers too?"

Meng Shuangyue felt a little aggrieved. "So many girls gave you things back then. Why are you picking on me?"

Qin Shuhuai: "..."
