The Much-Hated Young Lady Is Ready to Retire

Cheng Mingyue transmigrated into a novel about a girl adored by everyone.

The System told her that all she had to do was play the villainess and make the universally adored heroine shine. If she accumulated enough hatred points by the end of the story, she would receive a trillion-yuan reward from the System.

Cheng Mingyue: How much?! There's a deal like that?!

She promptly accepted the mission, diligently doing her best to play a haughty, conceited heiress who had nothing but money and was universally despised.

Now, there were three months left until the original novel's ending.

In three months, she could wrap things up, collect her reward, and retire to a wonderful life! Retirement was calling!

But just as Cheng Mingyue was making her final preparations for retirement, the plot started going a little off the rails

The male lead, who should have hated Cheng Mingyue for forcing him into a relationship, confessed to her in public at an awards ceremony for actors;

The heroine, who should have exposed Cheng Mingyue's true nature after being framed, publicly declared that she had always admired her.

Then there was the aloof, self-controlled beauty; the playboy who seemed gentle on the surface but was a lovesick obsessive underneath; the spirited best friend who was willing to fight anyone for the heroine; the arrogant producer who seemed like a gentleman but was actually cold-blooded; and the devoted younger brother, equal parts dependable and youthful...

They were supposed to hate Cheng Mingyue and help the universally adored heroine face-slap her at every opportunity. Instead, they gradually strayed from the main plot, all begging for her attention.

And the netizens who had once hurled insults at her had somehow switched sides too:

"Mingyue is so kind. She throws water on someone, then tosses them a towel."

"She may always have her guard up, but I know she's softhearted inside!"

"What bad intentions could the heiress possibly have? She insults you to motivate you!"

Cheng Mingyue: ...This has gone seriously wrong, hasn't it?

How did the universally despised girl become universally adored??

Later, when the System returned, Cheng Mingyue collected her reward and retired without a hitch. She disappeared, and only then did they realize she had never intended to stay for them.
