Zhong Jing was afraid of that boy who was like a mad dog.

When she was very young, she once saw him beat a flock of big white geese to the ground with a soaked rattan cane as they lined up to climb a hill.

He raised an eyebrow and flashed a wicked smile. "What? Afraid of me?"

Zhong Jing stared nervously at him with her dewy, doe-like eyes. She nodded, then quickly shook her head.

The boy leaned toward her and suddenly raised a hand.

Trembling in the corner, Zhong Jing curled into a ball and squeezed her eyes shut. Still, she managed to whisper, "Class... class reps should set a good example and be... be kind to their classmates."

"Be kind to your classmates..."

The expected punch never came. Instead, she heard a mischievous snicker.

On the day final exams ended, Zhong Jing stood blankly beside Kuang Bei's desk, clutching a love letter she had been asked to deliver, unsure what to do.

The boy, who had been sleeping, suddenly lifted his head. Their eyes met, and Zhong Jing guiltily looked away in a hurry.

The boy glanced at the envelope in her hand a few times, his expression unreadable. Then his cool, roguish voice rang out: "You like me?"

"I..."

Zhong Jing backed away in fright, her face turning bright red as she floundered for words.

A playful glint flashed in the boy's eyes. He casually smoothed out his wrinkled clothes and leaned toward her. "Little deskmate, you're so well-behaved. Do you know how to kiss?"

Many years later, Zhong Jing went to Yingqing City as one of her company's temporary representatives to attend a charity bidding event.

A colleague told her that the head of the target company's team was a wealthy new businessman who had returned from overseas. His methods were decisive and ruthless, and he was so cold-hearted that people trembled at the mere mention of him.

Zhong Jing felt uneasy.

Covered in mud and water, Zhong Jing stumbled into the elevator.

In the cramped space, a man in a perfectly tailored, high-end suit turned around. It was that same arrogant, unruly face. Zhong Jing trembled all over.

They brushed past each other.

He didn't even look at her, leaving only a cold silhouette behind.

It wasn't until the welcome event later that Kuang Bei cornered her by the exit and snapped, "Zhong Jing, how dare you?"

He leaned in and kissed her.
