The "Don't Part" Series
As children, Ye Gufan and Li Xingyu depended on each other for everything. But as the moon waxes and wanes, and roads go in different directions, parting is perhaps inevitable.
From separation in life to separation by death, you never know which meeting will be your last. May everyone have someone to confide in, and may there be no partings in this world.
Some words need to cross mountains and seas, bridge the distance, and defy separation. "Please, listen to me..."
First Song
"A Lonely Sail and an Island" by Shang Chen and Xuanxiao
Ye Gufan is a lone sail drifting over stormy seas,
while Li Xingyu is nothing more than an inconspicuous island.
For a time, they rely on each other,
but a lone sail cannot chase an island forever.
Perhaps the wind grew stronger, the waves rose higher,
and the current of time swept him away.
One went far away, while the other stayed behind.
Second Song
"This Love Has No Return Date" by Xuanxiao
In the first year after Ye Gufan left, Li Xingyu waited where he was.
In their youth, they had studied, written, and shared their deepest thoughts together, always by each other's side.
But as spring turned to autumn, he was left alone to wait, seeing no end in sight.
Would the question, "When will you return home?" ever receive an answer?
Third Song
"The Long Alley of Longing" by Zhang Qishan
In the third year after Ye Gufan left, Li Xingyu was still where he had been.
He wandered along the long alley they had once walked together, watching the flowers bloom and fade. Everything seemed as it had always been, yet nothing was the same. It seemed all things had come to an end. But even now, his heart remained unchanged.
Could waiting without knowing the outcome still be called staying true?
Fourth Song
"I Do Not Dream of You" by Wang Ziyu
In the fifth year after Ye Gufan left, Li Xingyu was still where he had been.
In the long night, candlelight flickered, illuminating the words on the desk: "I dream only of idle strangers, never of you."
Li Xingyu looked up at the moon and let out a long sigh.
How could an old friend enter his dreams? How could a dream last a lifetime?
Fifth Song
"Between Wind and Snow" by Vk
In the tenth year after Ye Gufan left,
Li Xingyu was still where he had been.
At last, news of his old friend came from afar.
Beacon fires blazed across the land. Heroes lay buried.
He kept watching the moon wax and wane,
white hair spread across his pillow.
But Ye Gufan would forever
remain amid wind and snow, his features imprinted on Li Xingyu's heart.
Years of waiting, and in the end, that final glimpse never came.
Sixth Song
"Waiting for You in the Loft" by Chen Yiming and Shang Chen
In the sixteenth year after Ye Gufan left,
Li Xingyu carried a jug of wine
and climbed the tower, one step at a time.
He lowered his eyes, looking toward the old ferry crossing.
Their parting still seemed so vivid.
Through his drunken haze,
he seemed to see Ye Gufan standing there,
waving to him.
Li Xingyu finally smiled.
If time could turn back, he would stay by his side,
watching the flowers and the moon together, never letting the lone sail drift away again.
Theme: I dream only of idle strangers, never of you.
