Synopsis:

Empress Alice's Thorn Banner flies proudly across a glorious page in the empire's history. But she is reborn in another world as the daughter of a minor baron. Her barony is small and poor, and the Church, waving the banner of the God of Light, never does anything useful and is always holding out its hand for money.

The corrupt imperial court and the oppressive power of the Church are only a small glimpse of the wider continent. Compared with the mighty empire Alice built with her own hands in her previous life, this world is an utter mess.

Alice lets out a cold laugh and decisively seizes the title of lord. She recruits talent (and workhorses), builds infrastructure, takes on the nobles, and fights the Church. She fights people, Heaven, and the gods.

The dark elf is beautiful, with a body that makes Alice swoon. He's gentle, obedient, and well-behaved. Alice thinks he's irresistible, but as she raises him, she realizes she's made the elf's appetite grow. He no longer wants their relationship to be merely that of caretaker and pet.

Alice learns that the dark elf secretly threatened the prince of the neighboring principality behind her back. She returns to her chambers to demand an explanation, but the wronged elf kneels by the bed and takes both her hands. As she is forced to touch the thin wings on his back, he pleads pitifully, "Master, he's not as good as me. I'm prettier, better in a fight, and more obedient."

Alice blocks his beautiful face as he tries to draw near, her heart as cold as ice. "Sleep by yourself tonight, or tomorrow you'll handle the diplomatic affairs for me."

The dark elf says nothing, but still clings stubbornly to her and stays the night.

The next day, the neighboring king, who had received a threatening letter from the elven race shot into his chambers the night before, locks his son up overnight. Then he sends Alice a letter declaring their eternal friendship, and begging her not to let a little misunderstanding affect relations between their two countries.

Alice: ?

She looks at the culprit, who still wears an innocent, pure expression. The dark elf is making her black tea with the Fountain of Life water he brought from his homeland, hoping to use his tea-making skills to earn another night with her. "Master, would you like some tea?"

Alice: "...Add a little sugar."
