After Rejecting the God of Death's Proposal

[This story will be updated slowly. Not recommended for new readers.]

In his previous life, Nan Ci was a background NPC who drifted between different games.

He was always honest and well-behaved, but somehow he kept running into all sorts of bizarre scumbags. Some of them were so twisted they wanted to turn him into canned food and offer him as a sacrifice to an evil god.

Nan Ci: Hah.

After Nan Ci delivered some righteous justice, the scumbags all broke down in tears and swore they’d never do it again.

Only then did Nan Ci learn that the scumbags he’d thought he was dealing with were all game bosses, including, but not limited to, fallen believers, offspring of evil gods, and parasitic monsters...

Since he’d driven them all into a state of despair, the games couldn’t continue. So Nan Ci was kicked out of one game after another and sent into the next.

Nan Ci: Is this my fault?

Just as Nan Ci was about to become the gaming world’s worst nightmare, he suddenly heard a voice:

[The God of Death has noticed you.]

Then he transmigrated into the real world.

The real world was even scarier than the games...

In the year 2231 of the Star Calendar, the universe had just emerged from the greatest divine war in history. Most of the gods had fallen, leaving behind a mass of rampaging remnants. An unknown force warped and corrupted them, creating countless corrupted zones and unknown ruins.

Humanity struggled to survive among them, pinning all its hopes on the ruin explorers known as the "God-Touched."

Nan Ci, first-year student at the God-Touched University. God-Touched rating: SSS

God-Touched ability: [Bride of the God of Death]

Description: You are the bride chosen by the God of Death. "Death" adores you as never before. Every brush with death is a divine declaration of love. Child, why have you not embraced Them?

In plain language: You have a fatal allure to the dead, the twisted, and the extremely dangerous. This even includes the Lord of Death Himself.

Nan Ci: ! Is this really a blessing and not a curse?

Life was hard, so Nan Ci had no choice but to return to his old line of work. Beating monsters and clearing levels? He was good at that.

As for the first step...

He’d start by refusing the God of Death’s marriage proposal.

[Black Box: A Certain God’s Diary]

"My proposal was rejected."

"I’ll ask the God of Love for advice. If I fail next time, I’ll make the God of Love swim in the River of the Underworld."

"When will he accept my proposal?"

God of Love: "You’ve got to be kidding me!"

He regretted it so much! Back during the divine war, the sight of this god alone had been enough to make all the other gods tremble. The God of Love had misjudged him, thinking he was desireless and cold-hearted.

Who could’ve guessed that he was actually an incurable romantic?!

The departed gods lingered in the ruins, growing increasingly mad amid the twisted forces, until they finally awaited the arrival of that young man.

The young man brought them salvation and became the light of hope they all believed in.

The gods: He must be the God-Touched one destined for me!

What? He already has another god’s blessing? That doesn’t matter!

[The gods’ stories are nearing their end, but your legend has only just begun.]
