Baihe Feng is a transmigrator who has lost his memory by accident.
At least, that's what he thinks.
Right now, he's living with Mr. Bourbon, a popular character from a magic-realism detective anime.
Their cohabitation rules are as follows:
1. He must not leave the house without permission, and he must not let anyone know that Baihe Feng exists.
2. He must keep an up-to-date record of his memory recovery.
3. Mr. Bourbon covers all living expenses.
It doesn't sound quite normal, but after spending enough time cooped up at home, Baihe Feng gets used to it and settles into a life of "eating well and doing nothing."
So when he's given a new identity and steps outside, it feels a little strange.
Baihe Feng: It's a shame I can't live off someone else anymore.
On a rooftop at night, a life-and-death struggle between the whiskey trio is interrupted by an experimental subject from an organization whose origins are unknown.
A boy named Baihe Feng saves his best friend, but to cover for the three undercover agents, he can only be taken back to the organization himself.
A year later, Bourbon finally finds the right opportunity to rescue him, but can only take him back to his own safe house for the time being.
The investigation isn't going smoothly. Much of the time, Bourbon can only fill in what he knows about Baihe Feng by observing him.
Baihe Feng Observation Diary:
Day 1: After a full physical examination, the chip was surgically removed. The signs of experimentation are unclear.
Day 5: Can cook Chinese food. Possibly of Chinese descent. (Tastes pretty good.)
Day 15: Very perceptive. Knows to keep his distance from me.
Day 20: Terrible physical condition. Needs to exercise more.
Day 30: Looks great in red.
His best friend accidentally discovers the diary: eyes widen in shock.
He hesitates, then calls his friend: Rei, since the organization hasn't made a move in all this time, should we consider letting Feng return to normal life?
Bourbon, suddenly feeling strangely empty inside: You're right.
But on the first day of university, one of his subordinates sends a message: Mr. Furuya, everything is normal. Baihe has received over a dozen phone numbers today, though...
The members of the Black Organization watch Bourbon crush an aluminum can: ...Who made him mad?
A few notes before reading:
1. This story is the author's indulgence in their own tastes. The protagonist is a naturally seductive heartthrob, and is an adult from the moment he appears. The pairing is with Rei; there are also one-sided crushes from bystanders, but they don't feature much.
2. A rescue story, but the protagonist first appears during the rooftop whiskey scene.
3. It's basically all Detective Conan. The author's imagination runs wild, and they'll try their best not to break the logic. OTZ
Theme: Love can break into any prison in the world.
