Pingchuan spent her entire life as the leader of the Cangji Sect.
From her youthful years to her world-weary old age, she devoted her heart and soul to the sect, laboring and fretting her whole life, performing her duties diligently and leaving nothing to criticize.
That is, until she died.
On an ordinary afternoon in July, she watched the sunlight spilling halfway through the window, her heart at peace.
How wonderful, she thought.
At last, it can all be over.
-
Pingchuan was reborn.
She was born as the daughter of an ordinary farming family.
No magic, no cultivation, no responsibilities and burdens from a sect, and no endless piles of case files and troublesome affairs to deal with.
All she had to do was enjoy herself, drive the big yellow ox, and carry a basket on her back to dig up medicinal herbs in the mountains and sell them at the market.
When the sun set and she returned home, her honest, kindhearted parents, the barking Erhuang, and a table of hot, delicious food would be waiting for her.
How wonderful, Pingchuan thought.
To live an ordinary life, peaceful and uneventful, from beginning to end.
Until one day, on the mountain where she was digging for herbs, she came across a young man unconscious from severe injuries.
He was badly hurt, his body covered in traces left by magic and spiritual energy. Blood poured from him, soaking through even his black brocade cloak.
Curious, Pingchuan crouched down and brushed away the hair covering his face to get a look.
Oh, phoenix eyes, willow-leaf brows, and thin, cold lips.
He looked a lot like the little disciple she'd personally issued a wanted order against all those years ago, after he joined the demonic path through cultivation.
-
You Wufang was the Cangji Sect's most incorrigible disciple.
He beat up fellow disciples, broke into forbidden grounds at night, and secretly cultivated demonic arts, until his own master personally expelled him from the sect.
He hated the Cangji Sect, hated every day and night spent in the Discipline Hall, and hated his lofty, aloof master, the sect leader.
He hated that soft, faint, unruffled command of hers: "Get out."
He had resolved to hate her for the rest of his life.
Until that day.
He heard people say that You Pingchuan was dead.
-
1) An utterly ordinary female master and male disciple setup
2) A master who thinks being alive is pretty good x a disciple who thinks being dead is fine too
3) More to come when I think of it
