The man sitting nearby wore an immaculate suit. Refined and noble, he was as aloof as mist clinging to a mountain peak, seemingly impossible to grasp.

But when he heard that, he rubbed his tired brow and scoffed dismissively. "Don't listen to all that nonsense and baseless gossip."

Thinking of An Jin's bright, stunning beauty, his friend offered a kind warning: "Be careful she doesn't play you."

Later, their friends arranged another gathering.

That same friend saw with his own eyes as the man, looking miserable all evening, stood tall beneath the corridor and called An Jin, only to have her reject the call instantly.

The next second, a message arrived.

At just one glance, the usually composed and reserved man froze on the spot.

As his lips trembled, his dejected, defeated murmur reached his friend: "She said... we're breaking up..."

His friend: "!!!"

See? He'd told him so!

Wet and Burning

Before the first elective class of university, Yu Xi and her roommate were lounging bored in the last row.

The classroom suddenly grew noisy.

"Meng, Meng Zhixu!"

Her roommate excitedly tugged at Yu Xi's sleeve and pointed at the front, trembling.

Meng Zhixu was said to be one of the university's two campus heartthrobs, a refined gentleman, warm and gentle as jade.

Just then, Yu Xi's phone buzzed at the worst possible moment.

She hurriedly glanced in the direction her roommate was pointing, but barely even saw the person's face.

When she answered, the laid-back Jiang Chi spoke from the other end: "I'm just in class next door. Want me to bring your cake over?"

Her roommate hadn't noticed what she was doing and continued asking excitedly, "Well? Well? Isn't he handsome?"

Thinking about the food, Yu Xi turned her head and answered absently, "Ah... yeah, handsome..."

Her roommate pressed on: "So, is Meng Zhixu your type?"

Meng Zhixu couldn't hold a candle to food. Yu Xi just wanted to humor her and move on as quickly as possible. "I like him, I like him..."

At last, the noise by her ear stopped. The call was still connected.

The other end of the line was unusually quiet. In a cheerful mood, she said to Jiang Chi, "Okay, bring it over!"

Yu Xi and Jiang Chi had grown up together. They were childhood sweethearts in the truest sense.

In Yu Xi's mind, Jiang Chi had always been carefree and confident, doing as he pleased.

But lately, why did he seem so strange?

It was as if... an unruly little dog had suddenly become docile?
