I couldn't find an anthology fic about turning things around for characters who were popular but destined to die, so in a fit of anger, I decided to write one myself.
Please note: This is a crossover fanwork combining How to Become a Popular Character, I Turned My Fate Around After Being Written into a Detective Conan Manga, and How to Survive in the Conan World. The story will mainly follow the protagonists of those three Detective Conan fanfics. It also contains original characters. If that's not your thing, please steer clear.

Lu Man and Watanabe Mirai's secret identities are independent of each other. Lai Bao's survival and fate-reversal plots are mixed together. Li Yuan's backstory combines his past life and present life.
There are original characters (not important, they're just there to move the plot along).
The only pairing is Lu Man/Li Yuan.
No System, no transmigration, and no supernatural phenomena that go beyond Conan-style science.
Li Yuan and Lu Man are childhood friends, a classic Conan specialty. Lu Man is an orphan, ostracized for his unusual looks, and plays with Li Yuan, who is also mixed-race. In the early days, Lu Man has a crush on Li Yuan. Li Yuan comes to understand his feelings and confesses in college.
Lai Bao here is basically a surviving Lai with a new script, so he's relatively inexperienced. On top of that, Brother Li, who is extremely protective of his own little rabbit, is always by his side, making him seem weaker than in the original. Li Yuan really is brainwashed, and the aftereffects are worse than in the original.
My personal strength ranking: Lu Man slightly stronger than Li Yuan > Jiang Lai > Watanabe Mirai.
By the way, unless something unexpected comes up, I update daily with a chapter of at least 1,000 words. But I can't promise which story I'll update. Whichever one inspires me and gets written is the one I'll post.
Polite requests for updates are fine. They won't help, though. I'm terrified of running out of drafts, so I only post a chapter after I've written it.
