The moment he truly fell for him was when the cosplayer portrayed Yan Jingchen's favorite female character. Most people sexualized the character in their cosplay, but he alone saw what made her special and wanted to recreate her as she truly was.

On the surface, he's the top student in his grade, a cold-faced academic genius who keeps his distance from anime and manga. In private, he cuddles a character pillow at home and rewards himself with a few episodes of anime after finishing his homework.

One Saturday in June, there was a comic convention in Jiangcheng. The blogger Yan Jingchen had followed for ages would be there too.

Yan Jingchen did his research and used every last bit of his luck to snag one of the hundred tickets. Figuring that Jiangcheng was crowded enough that he was sure not to run into any classmates, he went.

At the signing table, the cosplayer looked up and called his name correctly.

"Yan Jingchen?"

The voice sounded incredibly familiar, as if he'd heard it somewhere before.

The instant their thoughts collided, Yan Jingchen's mind exploded. The person sitting across from him was the most inconspicuous student in his class, someone whose absence would go unnoticed even if he skipped school.
