It was supposed to be an unrequited crush, yet he did the cooking, worried himself sick, and remembered her cycles in every way better than she did herself.

After years away from home, Wei never imagined she would meet anyone from the Kamado family in the Demon Slayer Corps.

The Kamado couple were ordinary and unremarkable, and their children were sweet and sensible. They had nothing to do with demon slaying.

That was what she thought before meeting Tanjiro.

Wei stepped into the courtyard, still wondering what on earth he was doing. The meeting was about to start, and he was wasting time talking nonsense.

Then she looked up. The Wind Hashira mercilessly thrust his sword into the wooden box, and from its center came the anguished cry of her nephew, who should have been safe at home.

The first time Shinazugawa Sanemi saw Wei was in a mirror he had picked up.

The mirror was covered in scratches and its frame was broken, but the white-haired, white-eyed girl had features as lovely as a painting. She was like a handful of snow landing in his palm at winter's arrival, ready to melt if he wasn't careful.

She taught him to read and write, and listened attentively as he told her about his daily life.

When the girl was confined to her room and forbidden to go out, Shinazugawa Sanemi told her about the vast world outside: the rising sun, ships at the harbor, and street vendors at their stalls...

Gojo Wei hid him away like a pet kitten. He was her cat, and she hadn't even told her closest brother, afraid her family would find out.

Then, when Shinazugawa Sanemi was nine, he finally met Gojo Wei.

Beautiful, fragile Gojo Wei, smiling at him.

According to one of his younger brothers, his face had turned bright red, his eyes had gone blank, and smoke was practically coming out of his head. He stumbled straight into a tree and nearly got buried in the snow.
