I Use Fortune-Telling to Keep the Scheming Crown Prince in Check

After her clan was wiped out overnight, Shen Fu, a diviner who had never left her sacred village, set off alone for the capital to seek revenge.

Hunted by assassins, she divined that the path ahead was mildly inauspicious. Trembling with fear, she fell into a deep pit. As she was climbing out, a hand grabbed her ankle.

Shen Fu looked back in terror, thinking she had seen the jade-faced devil from the depths of hell.

"Miss, save me."

Their fates entwined, Shen Fu took pity on him and brought him back to save his life. Only after tending to his wounds did she learn from him that he was none other than Xiao Yu, the crown prince.

Hunted because he was the crown prince and then rescued, Xiao Yu looked at the cold, melancholy girl by the window and thought he'd seen her somewhere before.

After one night, Xiao Yu remembered. Wasn't she the little goddess of the Miyang Clan?

He went to great lengths to persuade her, coaxing her into the Eastern Palace. Just as the seed buried in his heart was about to flower,

she suddenly learned what the secret decree had said.

Shen Fu pressed the tip of her knife against Xiao Yu's throat and asked, "The emperor said that if my people refused to come to the palace with you, you'd kill every last one of them, including the clan leader and the goddess. Xiao Yu, what were your intentions when you first approached me?"

Blood seeped into his collar, but Xiao Yu didn't even blink. "A Fu, I would never hurt you. Because I fell for you the moment I first saw you."

After a long silence, Shen Fu lowered her knife and turned to leave.

Before entering the world beyond her village, Shen Fu had heard that people were full of twists and turns. After entering the palace and seeing a thousand faces, she felt the truth of it in her very bones.

So Shen Fu always thought that once she'd avenged her people, she would return to the mountains and live out her life alone.

She fought in front, killed her enemies with her own hands, and took her revenge. After wiping the blood splashed across her face, Shen Fu turned around and saw Xiao Yu.

For some time now, no matter what she did, it seemed that whenever she turned around, Xiao Yu was there.

And so...

"Shen Fu, the Imperial Preceptor, is a goddess sent from heaven, peerless in grace and unmatched in all the world. She can read the stars and devise methods to protect our dynasty for generations. She shall govern the Zhuang Kingdom alongside me and bring peace to all under heaven, earning an immortal place in history. I beg the Imperial Preceptor to take pity on my sincere devotion and marry me, so that we may remain together and never abandon one another!"

"My lord," the deputy envoy asked Shen Fu, "this is the emperor's tenth marriage decree. Will you still refuse him?"

The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Everyone watched Shen Fu nervously.

A smile appeared on Shen Fu's usually serene, exquisite face. She brushed her hand over the characters Xiao Yu had written himself and said, "I accept."

1. One-on-one romance, both leads' first love, happy ending. Later, Xiao Yu chases after his wife, and the heroine puts her puppy in line.

2. My own take on court intrigue, so don't overthink it. It's a fictional history and dynasty, with a mix-and-match assortment of official positions. I chose the titles that sounded best.

3. Although I drew on references, the divination in the novel is almost entirely made up. Any resemblance is purely coincidental. Experts are welcome to point out errors, and I'll correct them as soon as possible~
