What Could a Little Cat Possibly Be Scheming?

Yun Huan is a cat spirit who sneaks into the palace and becomes a maid.

By day, she's a human. By night, she's an adorable little cat who loves acting cute and purring. She's even found herself three owners in the palace:

A handsome guard, a cool scholar, and a scheming crown prince.

It's perfectly normal for a cat to adopt several humans at once, right?

Today Yun Huan nibbles fish from the handsome guard's lunchbox, tomorrow she washes her feet in the cool scholar's teacup, and the day after she leaves plum-blossom paw prints on the scheming crown prince's bed.

Her three owners are usually in different places at different times, and her schedule is meticulously planned. She's never been caught.

The guard's post is near the palace quarters she's responsible for. Whenever Yun Huan passes him in human form, she gives him a smile.

But...

Why do the scholar and the crown prince keep coming over here, too?

The crown prince grits his teeth. "Who else are you trying to visit?"

The little cat yowls: I treat all three of you exactly the same!

Wait... wait a minute. Why is the guard's jade pendant hanging from the crown prince's waist?

"Didn't you realize the other two were me, too?" The crown prince, Chu Tingyan, grinds his teeth. "I've worked so hard to feed you for half a year, and then I change clothes and you think I'm a whole new person."

The little cat is horrified. The little cat bristles! The little cat pretends not to understand and tries to run out the window.

"Quit pretending. Every time you see me in human form, you forget to hide your ears."

* The heroine is face-blind. (You can't expect a little kitty to recognize people's faces!)

The Jiang and Wen families are about to arrange a marriage, but the older sister suddenly runs away from the wedding. Wen Yu is pushed into taking her place and puts on the veil.

On the day of the engagement ceremony, the young woman in her early twenties had a graceful figure and cool, pale skin. Her delicate waist was outlined by a pearl-white dress, so slender it could be held in one hand. She seemed about to melt into the misty white curtains.

Jiang Zheng glanced at the figure from afar, stubbed out his cigarette, and asked in a hoarse voice, "Who is that?"

"That's... Miss Wen's younger sister," a staff member whispered, thinking Jiang Zheng was dissatisfied.

After all, Wen Yu had only been brought back into the family in the past couple of years. She was well-educated, widely known for her quiet and gentle disposition, and outrageously beautiful...

But she was still an illegitimate daughter, and a little mute.
