I Dug Up My Own Grave at the Crematorium

I had to die once before I realized how badly I had misjudged him.

No wonder I ended up being thrown into a river in the dead of winter, with not a trace of my body left behind.

But I could not let it go. With nowhere to rest, my soul stumbled upon another body by chance. In an instant, I became one of the current emperor's lackeys, rising rapidly through the ranks, riding on horseback down the long streets, full of pride and spirit. What a life!

Then, at a banquet, I saw Xie Qingyan again.

He had entered the court as an official, and his colleagues praised him to no end. But when marriage came up, he said there was already someone he loved, someone fate had cruelly taken from this world long ago.

Only later did I learn that he had fallen gravely ill that night and nearly died. Afterward, he had dragged himself back to gather my remains and lay them to rest properly. He even erected a tombstone, and in the temple, candles burned day and night as he prayed for me to be reborn soon and return to my homeland.

It was as if that was the only thing he had left to hope for in the rest of his life.

So I went back to that place.

In the seventh year of Suining, I dug up my own grave.
