The Girl Sacrificed to the Mountain God [Nonhuman]

[Devout fanatic, naturally dark-hearted girl × evil god, chaotic-evil tentacle monster] A Li grew up in a village cradled by mountains. She’d been able to wander freely through the woods ever since she was little. A Li loved her mountains, and she knew there was a god living among them. When the mountain breeze brushed past her, it was the god gently caressing her cheek. When dew fell into her hair, it was the god playing with her. That was A Li’s secret with the god. But every secret is bound to be discovered one day. The villagers noticed the god’s presence and looked afraid. It was a terrifying monster and had to be sealed away again, they said. The villagers wanted to offer it a sacrifice and ask it to stop watching over the mist-shrouded mountains. They went to A Li’s family. Her parents refused to give up A Li’s younger brother, so she became the sacrifice instead. Wearing her brightest clothes, A Li was offered to her god. The god descended through the mist. A Li, dazed, was wrapped in vines. A presence darker than darkness swept over her, its sticky, shadowy gaze fixed on her, leaving an impression she would never forget. A voice sounded beside her ear. “Are you the one who’s been calling me all this time…?” The vines explored A Li’s body, inside and out, as the god spoke in broken phrases. “A Li…” - [Exotic atmosphere, Lovecraftian nonhuman characters, multiple species, sweet slice-of-life] Theme: Even the weak can have a god of their own
