Ye Yunxiang read the story of her own life in a tale.
The daughter of a minor official, she was vicious and used drugs to seduce a high-ranking official who was leaving the capital, forcing him to take her as his mistress. After that, she stirred up trouble and dragged countless people into disaster.
In the end, the emperor personally bestowed poisoned wine upon her, and her entire family was exiled.
As death approached, Ye Yunxiang held the tale and laughed bitterly, but it was too late for regret.
Yet when she opened her eyes again, she found herself at the very beginning of the tale:
[Ye Yunxiang was supposed to be born with a nature that was innocent, carefree, and free of worries.]
Awakening from her nightmare, she returned to the first day after becoming a mistress. The first thing she did was put away the hairpins and jewelry on the table and stop asking about her master's whereabouts.
Ye Yunxiang took stock of her situation:
A little courtyard enclosed on all sides, a fixed monthly allowance, and servants to wait on her.
She could grow vegetables, snack on melon seeds, and secretly do a little trading under the name of the high official's household. What could be better?
As for the high official, he had never liked her and would never come to see her of his own accord. Given enough time, he might even forget she existed.

And so her days passed in quiet contentment, until someone knocked gently on the courtyard gate.
Gazing at the tall, handsome man with his icy expression, Ye Yunxiang inexplicably felt guilty and tried to close the door a little more firmly.
The high official glanced coldly at the scene inside the courtyard:
His mistress had a healthy, rosy complexion and looked plump enough to squeeze juice from.
The yard was full of chickens and ducks, and even had a carefully built coop.
The maids, turned into an assembly line to help with her food business, smiled awkwardly.
"M-My lord..."
The man looked down at her and sneered:
"You've certainly taken good care of yourself."
