[The sharp-tongued, possessive, and utterly in-denial sinister regent × the radiant noblewoman who’s a natural at training dogs, without even realizing it]
[A sea of hate (love), raging like a storm: after all the hating, all he really resents is that she doesn’t love him.]
In a nutshell:
We should owe each other everything,
We should be bound together for life,
So don’t let us make up too soon.
“Ali, if you can’t love me, then hate me. At least that way, I’ll still be in your heart.”
Qin Yizhen was hit by a car and lay unconscious in the hospital for three months.
During that time, she had a long dream. In ancient times, she and a man named Xu Hui grew up together, were betrothed as children, became enemies, loved and fought each other, and then she ran while he chased her...
It had every trope under the sun. She regretted reading so many novels if even her dreams were this melodramatic. But everything felt far too real, and she began to wonder if she had transmigrated.
Then she woke up in the hospital, and before she was even discharged, Su Zhengxing, the head of a powerful family, fell for her. He was devoted and sincere, and both his looks and personality were exactly to her taste, as if he had been custom-made to be her ideal partner.
If the Su family weren’t one of Jiangcheng’s most famous wealthy clans, she would have suspected she’d stumbled into a romance scam.
She asked Su Zhengxing whether she had transmigrated or was dreaming. The man holding her gazed at her tenderly. “Zhenzhen, it was just a dream.”
Curled up in his arms, she didn’t see the panic he couldn’t hide in his eyes...
[The Hero’s Version]
Xu Hui fell for Qin Yizhen the moment he first saw her. He was only eleven. From then on, she was the only one in his heart and on his mind, and he devoted himself to waiting for the day he could marry her.
But one year before their wedding, Qin’s father destroyed the Xu family, leaving Xu Hui’s fate unknown.
Qin Yizhen was betrothed to someone else. On her wedding day, Xu Hui had already helped the new emperor seize the throne and risen to the highest ranks of the court. He personally led troops to raid the Qin household.
Xu Hui abducted Qin Yizhen, still dressed in her wedding gown, to a private room in the entertainment quarter. Every night, he took whatever he wanted from her.
Xu Hui hated the Qin family to the core and kept telling himself he would kill Qin Yizhen the next day. But one day became the next, and she not only stayed alive, Xu Hui even treated her like royalty.
On his birthday, they shared a bowl of longevity noodles. He thought the noodles she’d made by hand held her true feelings. He never imagined they contained poison she had put in herself, or that she would plunge a dagger into his heart with her own hand...
The very dagger he had given her on the day they became engaged...

Three years later, Qin Yizhen was ready to marry someone else when Xu Hui found her again.
He saw the red marks disappearing beneath her collar. His face darkened as he gripped her wrist and pulled her into his arms. “Ali, are you getting married again? Why didn’t you ask whether I’d allow it?”
Then he couldn’t help lowering his head to her neck, possessively leaving his own marks over the red ones.
After a whole night of stormy passion and desperate entanglement, her fiancé came looking for her.
Xu Hui sat at the edge of their wedding bed and stroked her face, smiling scornfully. “Ali was exhausted last night. She’s still asleep, so she won’t see you off.”
He swung his sword at the man, but the blood that gushed out came from Qin Yizhen’s chest...

1. I’m terrible at writing blurbs. Basically, this is a story of a sea of hate (love), where the leads love and hurt each other. They really do kill: the heroine does it on purpose, while the hero does it unintentionally.
2. The hero and heroine share a special empathy. The heroine stays clear-headed and independent throughout, the kind of clear-headed person who would kill the hero herself.
3. The hero is sexually inexperienced and devoted to her in both body and heart.
4. I started writing this on Green River because I dislike stories that torment the heroine, and I felt some groveling arcs don’t make the hero suffer enough. The hero does restrict the heroine’s freedom at first, but he spoils her endlessly. That won’t last long, though: he’ll soon be thrown into a blazing inferno of groveling, where he’ll suffer both physically and emotionally.
