Holding It Together

By chance, he saved the distinguished Mr. Fu, whom he had secretly loved from afar.

Mr. Fu asked him what he wanted. Without thinking, he blurted out, "I want you... to be my boyfriend!"

Mr. Fu froze. He immediately realized how absurd he had been and felt mortified. Mr. Fu was someone from a world far above his own. How had he dared say such a thing?

To his complete surprise, Mr. Fu agreed. But he set a time limit: they would break up after a year, and he must not cling to him afterward.

Even if it was only for a year, he was overjoyed! He was already happy just to be so close to Mr. Fu.

But as they spent time together, he came to understand the difference between them.

Mr. Fu was so wonderful, while he lived like a rat in a gutter, barely getting by each day. He did his best to keep going, forcing himself to hold their relationship together...

Fu Huaisheng didn't think he could fall for an inferior Beta who hadn't even graduated middle school and came from such a poor family. Sure, the beta was beautiful, softer than many omegas, good at satisfying him during his heats, and had a nice, obedient personality.

But as head of the Fu family, surely he ought to like a more exceptional, high-quality omega. So he proposed they break up.

He thought the beta would beg him to stay. After all, the beta loved him so much. But the beta only smiled and said, "Okay," then apologized, saying that this ridiculous debt of gratitude had only caused Fu Huaisheng trouble. After that, he turned and walked away without hesitation.

Fu Huaisheng froze. Why did his heart hurt so much at that moment?

No, he didn't want to break up yet. He had to find him and bring him back.

Who could have imagined that by the time he found the beta again, he no longer wanted to live?

Everything that had kept him going was gone...

Fu Huaisheng could only hold on to him with all his strength and piece his shattered life back together, bit by bit.

Reader's guide: Angsty first, sweet later. Mr. Fu is incredibly doting, and incredibly virile too. Even though our baby Huang Qi is a Beta who has trouble conceiving, he can still get him pregnant twice in three years, then twice more...

Theme: Unrequited love is both bitter and achingly beautiful.
