The Noble Consort's Favor Never Fades

My Weibo: @QueShangXinTouYa My new novel, Her Rise to the Top, is updating now! In the fifth year of Yuanhui, the palace held a selection. Ruan Hanzhang, daughter of the Minister of Justice, entered the palace for the selection and was chosen as a seventh-rank Lady of Talent. Lady Ruan had skin as fair as jade and an ethereal beauty, so she naturally won favor first. Everyone envied Ruan Hanzhang for never losing the emperor's favor, while she herself remained calm, neither servile nor arrogant. Because she was not Ruan Hanzhang at all. She was merely a Yangzhou courtesan, sent into the palace to win favor in place of a noble-born young lady. Once the real Ruan Hanzhang recovered from her serious illness, the Ruan family would send in the "Second Miss," and she would be of no further use. When the matron assigned to watch her brought her poisoned wine, Ruan Hanzhang accepted it with a smile and drank it in one go. A great fire burned down the Tangli Pavilion and took with it Lady Ruan, who had just been made Concubine Zhuang. That same year, during the joyous Mid-Autumn Festival banquet, the emperor strolled through the gardens by Taiye Lake and caught a fleeting glimpse beneath a wintersweet tree of a familiar, lovely figure. Afterward, the Listening Snow Palace gained a new Lady Jiang. Jiang Yunran sat amid the palace's carved beams and painted rafters and slowly curled her lips into a smile. What you win for someone else is ultimately no more than a castle in the air. This time, she would fight for herself. Until she sat upon the throne everyone revered. Enjoy! Please favorite my upcoming palace-intrigue novel, Her Rise to the Top! The new emperor was assassinated, but a fish-selling girl risked her life to save him, leaving him unharmed. The fish seller used the favor to demand a reward and shamelessly wormed her way into the palace as Beauty Yu. As expected, the emperor never summoned her after she entered the palace. Everyone was curious to see her become a laughingstock, but in a remote palace courtyard, they found a carefree beauty with skin as smooth as cream and an exquisite face. Jiang Yueya was a fish-selling girl with no parents. By a stroke of luck, she saved the emperor and went from sparrow to phoenix in an instant. She could not read a single character, had skin as thick as a city wall, and was vain, greedy, and lustful. The moment she saw the young emperor, her eyes lit up. "Your Majesty, where's the wealth and glory you promised me?" The new emperor despised her common origins, and he also despised the desire she constantly stirred in him. Whenever he saw her graceful figure, he could hardly tear his gaze away. How could he give a fish seller everything she wanted? One day, he heard that Consort De, a high-born lady, had punished her, giving her a beating and confining her to her quarters. The new emperor sat with a cold face, reviewing memorials until midnight, but still could not resist setting foot in Liuyun Palace again. He expected to find her looking pitiful and crying as she complained, but instead, he was greeted by the mouthwatering smell of grilled fish. The new emperor: "...Aren't you upset?" Jiang Yueya held grilled fish in one hand and osmanthus wine in the other. Her round face was rosy, and her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled. "I've got good food, good sleep, and a good life. What is there to be upset about?" Everyone looked down on her, waiting for her to be banished to the Cold Palace. A year passed, then two, and instead they watched her rise ever higher, enjoying unmatched favor. No one in the palace was more carefree or comfortable than her! Jiang Yueya: If I see it, I want it, and if I want it, I get it! Who says a fish seller can't be a treasure? Theme: Live for yourself.
