Rising Tide

Lu Chao is the son of the housekeeper in Mu Rong's home, and exactly the kind of person Mu Rong hates most.

Plain-looking, wooden, and in the three years he lived under her roof, he never once spoke to her of his own accord.

She mocked him, humiliated him, and even straddled him and beat him during an argument.

Later, Lu Chao's father struck it rich while working away from home and took Lu Chao and his mother to the provincial capital.

Not long after, Mu Rong's family went bankrupt.

After the college entrance exams, Mu Rong found a well-paid tutoring job.

It was pouring that day. She had a broken umbrella, and rain soaked her shoulders and skirt.

The shame of meeting him again in such a sorry state left her awkward and uneasy. What made it even worse was that...

She looked up and saw a face both familiar and strange.

"How did you... end up like this?" The young man's eyes were clear and deep, his white shirt so clean it shone. His tone was casual, full of mockery. "Like a dog."

Lu Chao thinks he ought to hate Mu Rong, because once upon a time she treated him worse than a dog.

But he has always been angry about it. Why can't he forget her?

She's even in his dreams.

A bad-tempered heiress fallen on hard times & a highly intelligent, sweet-on-the-outside, dark-on-the-inside young master
