Synopsis
"How do you make a stone grow a heart?
Make her mistakenly kill the one she loves, then let her follow the trail through her memories."
A young disciple accidentally went into cultivation deviation while practicing. The spiritual power in her body surged wildly and fell into chaos, leaving her on the brink of death. But her acupoints were in unusual places, and only spiritual cultivation could save her.
He crossed the bounds of their master-disciple relationship and cultivated with her. In fury, she raised her sword and killed her master.
"Yu Jie, do you know what you're doing? Killing your master and betraying your ancestors is a grave crime!"
"Why don't you ask what he did!" Yu Jie roared, her sword hand trembling.
"She's a demon! How could she form an immortal core? You knew she couldn't form one, so why did you let her keep cultivating?"
"How could I stop her from becoming stronger? If need be, I'll give up my life again."
He went to his death calmly, leaving her no reason to feel guilty. Only after his presence had vanished completely did she finally awaken to the truth in her memories.
In that life, she was the ruler of the underworld, and he was an immortal lord of the heavenly realm.
She entered his world with an air of pride, and from that moment on, his heart and eyes had no room for any other woman.
When had this invincible sword begun to point at him?
"If I die, will you miss me?"
"You won't die."
"Fine, then let me ask another way. If we never meet again in this life, will you... miss me?"
[Serene and devoted master x clever and composed, ruthless disciple]
[Beautiful servant harboring forbidden desires x deranged master who plays with fire and gets burned]
The Dao is fate.
The Dao of him and Zhao You was destined to lead them apart, just like yin and yang, one descending while the other ascended.
"If fate is destined to drive us apart, can those two memories, three tail feathers, and forty years together win me a sincere heart?"
"Should I hate you?"
"Perhaps."
"But right now, all I want is to kiss you."
One is a slow-to-understand recipient of love, the other a wooden giver of love.
Their story is destined to be full of twists and turns, but thankfully, they get the ending they wished for.
May we all get what we wish for.
(Note: This is a somewhat old-school xianxia novel. Everyone has a brain. One-on-one romance, happy ending.
The three realms are separated. Immortals, demons, and humans are different kinds of beings.
Temporarily complete. I may add an alternate human-world storyline later, depending on how I feel.
Inspiration for the title: But really, love isn't this pathological deep down for Chinese people. The kind of love we yearn for is like warm water steeping jade: gentle, reserved, sincere, and humble. When we were little, we thought happiness meant two people staying side by side, never letting go, their love as plain as rainwater. And yet, they love each other deeply. Being immersed in pathological love is certainly interesting, but I don't want to let myself develop this strange kind of Stockholm syndrome. Healthy love is like willow fluff: light, warm, and hiding a vigorous vitality. I gravitate toward it, like a moth drawn to a candle flame, but I know it won't burn me, because at this moment, I'm already in the midst of a raging fire.)
Theme: All living beings are equal
