The Witch's Hammer

In 1487, Catholic monks and inquisitors Kramer and Sprenger wrote the infamous Malleus Maleficarum, teaching people how to identify, report, and hunt witches.

Over the following three hundred years, nearly one hundred thousand innocent people were put to death as a result.

Lamia awoke one foggy morning.

Within ten hours of opening her eyes, she was accused of witchcraft for killing three underage boys.

The Church sentenced her to be tied to a cross and burned alive.

In his lifetime, Pastor Matthew captured four hundred witches. Three hundred and seventy-six were sentenced to death. But what he failed to realize was that only one of them was a real witch.

During the ten years Lamia spent evading trial, she unexpectedly, yet inevitably, grew into someone who struck fear into the entire world of witches and even the Church:

The Dark Queen.

**

The heroine is somewhat of a born villain, switching between lawful and evil. She believes in the greater good and supports establishing an absolute wizard regime, personally setting off a war between wizards and humans. You could think of her as a female Grindelwald, or a less radical Voldemort (this is not Harry Potter fanfiction). If that bothers you, please don't read.

There is a male lead, and he is powerful and not a good person.

Set in an alternate 16th- to 17th-century witch-hunting era, a time when darkness and light intertwined and chaos and reason ran rampant. The wizarding world's Thirty Years' War and the restoration of order.

Theme: Lamia doesn't need a knight. She is already as sharp as a sword.
