"Master, your disciple is going to travel among the mortal world. I don't know when I'll return, so don't worry about me!"
Ten years later, however, Gu Yingzhi knelt beneath the long flight of steps, pleading over and over: "Master, please, save A Nian."
The Venerable Sword Master Changfeng looked at his haggard, gloomy young disciple, who no longer showed any trace of the brilliant, once-in-a-generation talent he had been.
"You wretched sinner."
But that mortal still died in the end.
Gu Yingzhi survived and became the youngest Venerable Sword Master in the Kunlun Sword Sect's thousands of years of history. He devoted himself to the Heartless Dao and was unmatched among his peers.
Meanwhile, Xie Chennian hid beneath a huge hood, concealing his pale body and the ghostly aura spilling from him beneath his robe. He looked up at the young Venerable Sword Master, surrounded by people on the high platform, just as he had all those years ago.
"A Nian, look! This is my home!"
The gifted, adored one is the recipient: outwardly straightforward, chivalrous, and sunny, but actually detached, devious, and a total blockhead when it comes to romance.
The frail mortal is the pursuer: outwardly gentle, cold, and deep-thinking, but actually starved for love, obsessive, and a master of seduction.
Theme: Love can overcome all obstacles.
