Jiang Li grew up at Fangcaotang, determined to become a doctor who would sample every herb and save lives. She also hoped that one day she might find the parents who had abandoned her. Unfortunately, dreams were beautiful, but reality was harsh. At twenty, Jiang Li still had to make ends meet by selling medicinal herbs.
One day, while gathering herbs in the mountains as usual, Jiang Li ran into a monster. She thought in alarm, Have I eaten some poisonous mushrooms?
In her panic, a flash of light suddenly shot out and drove the monster back. Jiang Li's legs turned to jelly, and she dropped to the ground. Pointing at the monster, she said, "Don't tell me you're trying to scam me!"
Suddenly, one person descended from the sky. Then another person descended from the sky, followed by yet another...
Someone: "You're the one I've been looking for!"
Someone else: "You're the one I've been looking for~"
Another: "You're the one I've been looking for?"
Yet another: "You're the one... Heehee~ A Li~ What are we having today?"
Jiang Li hid to the side and chuckled to herself. Could I really be the chosen one?
Note:
1. The title comes from Li He's poem "Song in the Sky" from the Tang dynasty: "At night, the River of Heaven turns, stars drift back; clouds float over the Silver River, imitating the sound of water."
2. If you define a happy or tragic ending by whether the couple ends up together, most couples in this story, including the main couple, have tragic endings. I hear you're supposed to mention this in advance.
3. This is a cultivation world with a mash-up of dynasties. Please don't take the historical details too seriously.
