(A self-disciplined Ma Wencai x a mischievous, quick-witted woman who transmigrates into a book. Please add to your reading list~)
*
When she wakes up, Xie Yunli discovers she's transmigrated into a book as Zhu Yingtai's cousin.
"You're the best, Cousin. Will you dress as a boy and come with me to Wansong Academy?"
Xie Yunli nods, thinking: I'll beat Ma Wencai to a pulp and make sure he doesn't interfere with the Liang-Zhu romance.
-
On the first day of school, the students are assigned roommates. Amid the noisy crowd, one person sits quietly reading, as elegant as an orchid and a jade tree, refined and aloof.
Xie Yunli approaches him. "Have you chosen a roommate, my friend?"
The man looks up indifferently, his voice pleasant. "My standards are high. No one meets them."
Xie Yunli is intrigued. "What are your standards? Tell me."
"No making noise, no snoring, and no speaking to me unless I speak to you first."
Xie Yunli's smile falters. She clasps her hands and says, "I wish you success in getting exactly what you want."
But when it's time to assign rooms, the teacher decides to pair everyone by drawing lots.
When the young servant carries the luggage into the dormitory...
"What do you want with me, my friend?"
"I live here."
"M-My friend, what's your name?"
"Ma Wencai."
Xie Yunli slips and falls.
-
Ma Wencai is noble and self-possessed, comes from a good family, excels in his studies, and is stunningly handsome. Everyone wants to curry favor with him, but one person is always picking fights with him.
At first, he takes it all in stride and doesn't give her a second thought. Later, furious and exasperated, he corners someone in a room and refuses to let them leave.
"Xie Yunli, haven't I given you my whole heart?"
"Ma Wencai, you beast! Let go of me."
"If I keep indulging you, are you going to climb on top of me next?"
As soon as Xie Yunli hears that, she nimbly climbs on top of him. Ma Wencai's face turns scarlet.
-
Before meeting him, Xie Yunli thought Ma Wencai was a proud, heartless brute.
After becoming classmates, Xie Yunli realizes Ma Wencai is a proud man who holds himself to strict standards.
