This is a short story, and I'll finish writing the whole thing before posting.
[The scheming strategist who wants to make money vs. the aloof beauty who can't see]
Shang Yan transmigrates to the Pre-Qin era and finds herself among natives who believe in ghosts and spirits. She gets by swimmingly through swindling, bluffing, and pretending to wield supernatural powers, claiming to be an immortal from the future.
But on the day of Qi's sacrificial rites, a meteor falls from the sky and smashes the altar...
Overnight, Lady Gui, the divine maiden who can interpret Heaven's will, becomes a demon woman bringing ruin to the state and the target of everyone's ire. Qi's priests decide that Lady Gui must be sacrificed to the local earth god by the Qing River to put an end to the calamity.
It turns out being an immortal isn't so easy after all. Terrified, Shang Yan grabs her gold nugget and flees in the middle of the night, only to be caught by a blind man. "The divine maiden is in danger. Won't you save her, little immortal?"
Shang Yan hurriedly tries to refuse. "Even immortals can't save everyone."
The blind man threatens her anyway. "If you don't save her, I'll kill you."
Forced into action, the "immortal" accompanies the blind man to a banquet at the Qi palace that very night. With her silver tongue, she persuades the ruler of Qi to spare Lady Gui and save her own skin in the process.
Even after they succeed, the blind man refuses to let the fraudster go, intent on keeping the immortal for himself.
At first, she tries to escape. Then she unexpectedly learns that he is Prince Sui, driven out of Tan. Shang Yan turns her attention to his wealth instead. She assumes the blind man will be easy to fool, but he turns out to be a cunning fox who wants her body.
Prince Sui chuckles softly. "An immortal from the future? Looks more like a fox who became immortal to me."
Theme: The blind may see with their hearts, and the lowly need not think themselves inferior.
