The opposite of eternity is not a life that dawns and dies before dusk, but oblivion.
John Berger, Understanding a Photograph
Kugawa Linyu sometimes wondered if his memory was so bad that he might count as a reverse genius.
People have to remember the things that matter most throughout their lives, things they must protect and remain true to. But Kugawa Linyu was different. His memory was terrible. No matter how important something was, no matter if it was something he needed to remember for the rest of his life, if he couldn't write it down on a thin sheet of paper and look at it over and over every day until it was engraved deep in his soul, it would all be gone in a flash.
His atrocious memory even made it impossible for Kugawa Linyu to match people's names with their faces. Faced with the choice between constantly getting acquaintances' names wrong and constantly getting strangers' names wrong, he chose the latter.
With nothing but blankness surrounding him, Kugawa Linyu felt like a walking corpse.
Kugawa Linyu: I can't remember a thing!
The pairing is undecided. Kugawa Linyu has always been forgetful!
The title was inspired by John Berger's Understanding a Photograph.
Theme: Forgetting is the true end
