[The blurb may get a few minor edits before the story begins, but the premise won't change.]
After an accident, Li Shengqing seems to have undergone an ancestral bloodline awakening. He is no longer considered human, and has no choice but to transfer from an ordinary high school to a new school full of nonhumans.
So far, it sounds like the beginning of some kind of shonen manga, right?
But after enrolling, he discovers that this school is clearly one huge dating sim, and one that has been invaded by an external System at that. And he isn't the protagonist.
A classmate who seems to be the protagonist puts on a melodramatic show with the campus F4 every day.
A supposed transmigrator showers the F4 and other handsome NPCs with attention, fighting with his protagonist classmate over the guys.
Li Shengqing gets so numb from watching the drama unfold that he thinks they're all insane.
Fortunately, he's just a background character. He doesn't have to pursue anyone, and nobody has to pursue him.
Great. As long as he can quietly make it to graduation, he can leave this awful school, pack his bags, and go home.
But today, that dream shattered into pieces.
Because his protagonist classmate confessed to him.
Li Shengqing: ...Please stay away from me. Don't drag me into this, thanks.
The campus F4 turned their hostile glares on him as a rival in love, and Li Shengqing could just barely keep his cool.
But the protagonist's list of romance targets didn't stop at those four. Worst of all, there was a yandere on it!
The yandere's murderous gaze fell on him, sending a chill down his spine.
Looking at the protagonist before him, holding a love letter and blushing shyly, he really wanted to ask the suspected transmigrators with Systems:
Where do you save the game? Where's the undo option? Where's the rewind button?
I'm just a background character. I don't want to join you people!
As expected, I ended up on the yandere's radar.
Facing the yandere, who was about to pull out a scalpel at any moment, I had a brain freeze and pinned him against the wall first.
Under the yandere's malicious, shadowed gaze, I stole his line and demanded in a fit of madness, "You're that concerned about him?"
"Is killing him the only way to make you look at me?"
"Why aren't you looking at me anymore? You left me here. Where are you going? Who are you going to see? He doesn't need you around."
The yandere froze. Then his gaze turned distant, and his thin lips parted. "Do you like me?"
I braced myself and said, "Yes."
I survived, successfully passing myself off as one of the yandere's kind...
The main story is told in third person.
Note: Please pay attention to the main tag for the romance: love-hate relationship. At first, they genuinely try to kill each other. Both the top and the bottom try to beat the other to death. By the end, the only person either of them can see is the other. This is not a fluffy romance, and it is not a normal relationship.
Theme: Survival against all odds
