The apocalypse arrived: extreme heat, extreme cold, a zombie virus outbreak, and plants and animals evolved overnight.
Humanity's chances of survival shot straight to max difficulty.
But fortunately, one month into the apocalypse, the humans who survived awakened something called the Card System. Life or death depended entirely on luck. Strive on, you lucky ones!
Ji Yuanxiu was a Card System user who had spent ten years fighting to survive in the apocalypse.
During the first month, he survived by doing nothing but hiding. After that, the world changed, and the disadvantaged human survivors finally got a chance to turn things around. In his first draw for a companion card, he hit an incredible jackpot: a blazing gold UR card, Space-Time Track.
There were five card ranks: R, SR, SSR, UR, and the legendary GP.
The first two ranks were the most common, but no GP card had ever appeared. People hadn't even confirmed whether that rank really existed.
But clearly, even with such an incredibly lucky start, he didn't survive to the end. Why? Isn't it obvious? If he hadn't died, how could he have been reborn?
That's right, Ji Yuanxiu was reborn. It was now three months before the apocalypse began.
The scenes from his final moments still played out in his mind.
The partner and lover he had trusted most stabbed a sharp dagger into his heart. The laughable part was that the weapon that killed him was an SSR weapon card, the Sealing Dagger, that he had drawn from the System just one month earlier.
His partner of eight years had decided to kill him because he coveted Ji Yuanxiu's companion card. Companion cards couldn't be transferred or stolen, but he was still willing to kill for the tiny possibility he'd heard about.
As he fell, Ji Yuanxiu gave a self-mocking laugh.
Just as his eyes shut, the card that had appeared in his hand at some point began to shine with dazzling white light.
UR one-time-use card: Moment of Annihilation
Activate!!!
One second earlier: He died.
One second later: Huh, he was alive again.
Ji Yuanxiu: …
Whatever. What else could he do? He might as well live a little longer. He could always die again, right?
But when he looked down, huh? The System cards had arrived early?
Ji Yuanxiu: ? Am I cheating?!
Woohoo~
