In the fourth year of Dongning, heavy snow fell in the divine capital. Xiao Shao deposed the emperor and installed a new ruler, monopolizing power and reaching the height of his influence. That same year, at a floating-cup banquet in Qu Garden, Cui Mizhang took off her shoes and stockings and waded into the water to retrieve a pearl goblet that had sunk to the bottom.
That was when Xiao Shao's gaze settled on her.
Cui Mizhang disliked the way Xiao Shao looked at her: cold, cruel, condescending, and certain she would be his. She turned down his proposal and wanted nothing to do with him.
But she didn't know that Xiao Shao was not a man who allowed anyone to refuse him.
Three years later, heavy snow fell in the imperial palace. The Lin clan was punished as a whole. The men were exiled, and all the women were taken into the palace. When Cui Mizhang was sent to the palace's women's quarters, she encountered the imperial procession on the palace road.
The imperial carriage did not stop.
Several days later, the emperor summoned her to Zizhu Hall. He looked down at her as she knelt before him, her posture meek and compliant. A moment later, the supreme ruler of the realm reached out to her:
"A Mi, come here to Me."
Reading Guide:
1. An unbending, cold beauty x a dog of an emperor, a relic of feudalism. A shameless, over-the-top story of coercive love. Both are virgins, happy ending.
2. The blurb may change, but this is more or less the premise.
Theme: Never forget your original purpose.
