[Female eunuch x Living Hades]
Heroine’s perspective:
Six years ago, the entire Yang family was executed. To stay alive, Yang Yixun took someone else’s identity and became a eunuch, turning herself into the most useful pawn in her enemies’ hands.
She began doing her master’s dirty work.
To get revenge, Yang Yixun was willing to gamble with her own life. Using those unsavory tasks, she gradually fell from power, then rose again.
Under the vast heavens and upon the broad earth, only abiding hatred and malice had fallen to her lot, leaving her no choice.
Until one day, she met someone.
He said to her, “What makes you think you can use a fall from power to rise again?”
“Why are you still alive?”
And yet he was also the one who willingly became the sharpest blade in her hand.
Later, he told her, “I will protect these ten thousand miles of mountains and rivers, while you sit in the highest palace. I want you to be spotless from now on, revered by all.”
Powerful ministers scheme for profit and collude with one another.
Noble scions boast of their fame and achievements.
Or perhaps someone will be granted the honor of leading an army beyond the frontier and guarding the borders through the snowy winter.
We’ll just have to see where fate leads…
Hero’s perspective:
Pei Yan had spent years campaigning alongside his brother, leaving countless souls dead beneath his blade. Yet somehow, he could never kill one little eunuch.
They kept running into each other, swords drawn, determined to fight to the death. Who knew the little eunuch didn’t even care whether she lived or died?
A eunuch with a strong body but no backbone, hoping to gain power through castration. Pei Yan found the idea laughable.
But the little eunuch said, “Fate is hard to change. I won’t rest until I see the body.”
At first, Pei Yan found her nothing but troublesome. Later, he could only regret that the night was not longer than his yearning, that one night of passion was not enough.
Reader’s Guide:
1. Alternate history, with a mix of dynasties and official posts; mainly inspired by the Ming dynasty, so please don’t nitpick the historical details.
2. An unconventional, frail heroine. She throws up blood every three days and faints every other day, but gradually gets better later on.
3. Plot-driven, with plenty of political intrigue. The male lead, second male lead, and all the rest are stepping stones for the heroine.
4. They’re genuine enemies at first; later comes the crematorium.
5. Apologies for the writing.
Everyone, don’t worry: everyone is chaste, chaste, chaste.
The unserious version:
[Secret identities ahead]
To stay alive, Yang Yixun actually went into the palace to become a eunuch.
Daughter of a convicted minister, impersonation, a woman disguised as a man. What a disastrous start.
At least she was alive. Yang Yixun quietly comforted herself.
But rampant embezzlement by government officials left the treasury desperately short of funds, and the money meant to save the people vanished. By sheer bad luck, she got caught up in it.
Then she met Pei Yan, and enemies glared at each other with loathing.
Pei Yan was ordered to investigate Yang Yixun, but the case led to an old crime from ten years ago that involved him. Well, well, well. They really were enemies destined to cross paths.
From then on, they were at each other’s throats, determined to fight to the death.
Until one day, Pei Yan had his blade at Yang Yixun’s neck.
Then Yang Yixun slipped and fell into Pei Yan’s arms.
Pei Yan coldly and calmly put his blade back to her neck and said, “I know you eunuchs are into this sort of thing. If you don’t want to die, don’t get any ideas about me.”
Even in danger, Yang Yixun stayed true to her instinct to provoke him. Just to get under Pei Yan’s skin, she looked at him with shining eyes and said, “We eunuchs really are into this sort of thing.”
After that, Pei Yan disappeared, only to return just when Yang Yixun thought she’d finally get to live a peaceful, carefree life.
Once again, he held his blade to her neck and asked, “First a palace maid, then a guard, then a princess, then the chief minister. Eunuch Yang, what exactly are you into?”
