1.
At his father's funeral, Sang Liuyu met Lu Fei.
Someone brought a boy half a head taller than him over and told him that he was the orphaned son of the Lu family, and that he would help Sang Liuyu manage his father's company from then on.
Sang Liuyu stared at the boy's pale yet breathtakingly beautiful face for a moment, then took Lu Fei's hand.
To protect Lu Fei, he abandoned his original plan to leave and stayed to take over his father's company.
The pampered young master, raised with every luxury, started learning finance from scratch, even though it was the subject he cared about least. He did it only so Lu Fei could stay by his side without being bullied by anyone.
Everyone said Sang Liuyu was lucky. Even after losing his father's protection, he still had someone as capable and reliable as Lu Fei at his side.
No wonder the young master was still so innocent and willful, despite being doted on so much.
2.
Sang Liuyu's twentieth birthday was approaching, and he went with a group of friends to celebrate at a mountain estate.
Little did he know that, during the few days he was away, the situation at the company had already been turned upside down by Lu Fei.
On the night of the birthday party, several bodyguards in black suits stormed into the estate. As everyone watched in terror, they forced Sang Liuyu to hand over the company seal hidden there.
Sang Liuyu fled into the woods with the seal in his arms. He ran to the edge of a cliff, with nowhere left to go.
He was forced to within a few centimeters of the cliff's edge when a tall, graceful figure emerged from the forest. His eyes lit up.
But Lu Fei merely held out a hand, his gaze cool and his voice as cold as a mountain spring. "Xiao Yu, be good and give it to me."
Sang Liuyu's last shred of hope was utterly destroyed.
He threw the company seal at Lu Fei, his eyes red, and shouted at him for the last time, in one final act of defiance: "I never want to see you again!"
After that, he didn't look again at Lu Fei's changing expression. He turned and leaped down.
3.
When Sang Liuyu opened his eyes again, he had returned to the time when he was still the pampered young master.
Once again, someone brought the orphaned Lu Fei before him. Sang Liuyu looked at the boy, still impossibly handsome, but with bloodshot eyes, as if he were nothing more than a speck of dust.
That night, Sang Liuyu still brought someone home.
But it wasn't the dazzling young master of the Lu family, bright as a pearl.
