Zhu Zhu is an abandoned baby.
According to the old beggar who adopted her, it was snowing heavily in the city that day. He was sheltering from the cold in a ruined temple when he heard a baby crying at the feet of the Buddha. He went closer and saw her wrapped in brocade.
The old beggar said she must have been born into a wealthy family and kept telling her to find her family... Zhu Zhu scoffed at the idea.
After the old beggar died, Zhu Zhu dressed as a boy to survive, spending her days with street thugs, bullying people and throwing her weight around.
One day, while collecting protection money, she was accidentally knocked down by a carriage. Before she could make a scene, someone tossed a bulging purse out of the carriage.
Zhu Zhu opened it and was blinded by the silver inside...
And so began her life of staging accidents for compensation.
