In his view, since countless lives had fallen into dreamless slumber because of him, he should have fallen into eternal sleep along with the destruction of the previous civilization, never to wake again.
But his trusted companions held the completely opposite view.
So, at Priestess's suggestion and the Doctor's persuasion,
he became an observer of civilization.
P.S.:
1. The values of the protagonist and supporting characters don't represent the author's. The protagonist is a staunch Priestess supporter and a defender of the Doctor from the previous civilization. He sees every living thing on Terra as an experimental subject, so there will be plenty of harsh opinions about various characters. Fans of Theresa and Kal'tsit, don't read.
2. The characters belong to Hypergryph Network. Any out-of-character writing is on me.
3. Updates whenever inspiration strikes. I'll update when I feel like it. Begging for updates won't change the pace. This story was started on a whim.
4. Point out any bugs in the comments. I can't get motivated by the main story's eagle-speak, where they spend over twenty minutes saying nothing and make the Doctor take the blame for everything. After Chapter Eight, I basically skimmed the plot, since I dropped the game after the first anniversary and only came back now.
5. There are original characters. The protagonist was male in the previous civilization and is genderless now. The Doctor was also male in the previous civilization and is female on Terra.
6. No couples. If anything, there's only a hint of romance, with no love rivals. There are no romantic pairings between operators.
7. The protagonist has a romantic history and has had one-night stands. He's a weathered adult (probably reliable).
8. Third-person narration, with occasional first-person passages. The protagonist has only a title, no real name.
9. Please don't bring this story up in other authors' works or comments, and please don't discuss anything related to CoC. The author is a die-hard fan of beautiful women, and CoJ is a dealbreaker.
10. The previous civilization includes many original settings. I'll try to keep the Cthulhu-related elements close to Lovecraft's original works. There may be deadly, brutal scenes. Anything else is up to chance.
11. If you're particular about pairings or who tops and bottoms, I suggest you don't click. The author is an omnivore, and the protagonist may appear in BG, GB, GL, or BL pairings.
12. The author plays the original game, Iron, Arknights, and Wuqi, among others. All kinds of dark jokes about Hypergryph and its competitors may appear in the story.
